"Creating habitat one garden at a time."

I started Green Garden Design Co. with a simple belief: our landscapes should feel alive—and help the world around them stay alive too. Rooted in the mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania, I design outdoor spaces that honor the land, support local ecosystems, and invite people, plants, and wildlife to thrive together.

I focus on conservation landscaping and ecological design, using native plants, pollinator gardens, and natural materials to create habitats that truly function. For me, a landscape isn't just decoration. Our built landscapes can and should play a key role in feeding pollinators, sheltering wildlife, protecting our watersheds, and rebuilding healthy soil. That's why I rely on Keystone Plant species to guide my plant choices and actively remove invasive plants that disrupt the balance of our local ecosystems.

This work is personal. For me, it isn't just landscaping. It's restoration. It's stewardship. It's my way of reconnecting people with nature and creating spaces that feel good to live in—whether you're a person, a bird, or a bee. Every project I design is a small step toward a healthier home, a stronger community, and a more sustainable future—one garden at a time.

So, What is Conservation Landscaping?

Conservation landscaping is an approach to landscaping that focuses on creating sustainable and eco-friendly outdoor spaces. It involves using native plants, minimizing water usage and reducing chemical inputs to protect local ecosystems. By designing landscapes that work with nature, conservation landscaping helps preserve biodiversity and promote a healthier environment. This method not only enhances the beauty of your property but also contributes to the well-being of your home and the planet.

Why Native Plants?

Native plants are species that naturally grow in a specific region, like Northeast Pennsylvania, without human intervention. These plants have adapted to the local climate, soil, and wildlife, making them essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems. They provide food and habitat for native animals and help conserve water by requiring less irrigation. Choosing native plants for your garden supports local biodiversity and creates a more sustainable environment.

What are Keystone Plants?

Keystone Plant species are crucial or 'key' native plants that play the center role in supporting the health of their ecosystems. They are the most productive plant species that provide food and shelter for animals, help stabilize soil, and enhance biodiversity. By maintaining these species, we support the overall balance of nature in their habitats.

Consultation

I offer on‑site landscape consultations to help you understand what’s growing on your property and how to make it more ecologically healthy. During my visit to your property, I identify native plants, point out invasive species, and recommend what to plant—and where—to support pollinators, wildlife, and overall biodiversity.

Each consultation can include a written summary, customized plant lists, and clear next steps to help you confidently move forward with your project.

Whether you’re starting fresh or improving an existing garden, my goal is to help you create a thriving, sustainable landscape rooted in the beauty and ecology of our region.
